The Grand Tour

Today I got a trip round Stowe Landscape Gardens on a golf buggy.

We took my Great Aunt along and by pure chance we were offered a buggy when we weren't even sure if we could borrow a wheel chair. The gardens are 250 acres so turns out we were relieved not to have to push Aunty Joan up and down gravel paths.

Can you imagine going to school here?

We had a fantastic day, looking a temples and grottos, columns and lakes.

Hanging out at The Temple Of Venus

This Gothic Temple is a holiday cottage, as I trundled by I spied two sleeping middle aged men and a table with cakes on it. Slightly surreal. The whole golf buggy experience was.. clattering along down gravel paths only wide enough for two people.

Madam, your chariot awaits.

Looking serious at a re-creation of an 18th Century dinner table.

Hope you enjoyed that short tour. We were a tad annoyed when we got there because dogs were actually allowed in the park land. One dog was having a tooth op and the other was left at home and we could've brought the little madam with us.

Oh and they're 10 tomorrow! Damn it, animals age so fast

You look right at home here. How welcome to have a cart to drive around in. At least you know you can take the dogs for your next visit.
Your dress is gorgeous and I love the photo of you at the dinner table. Well, I'm off now to go dust my Temple of Venus(!?).
About the speed of aging animals, isn't it maddening? I suspect that it's the intensity of their loving makes them live so quickly.

Loved taking the tour with you. It was good of you to even consider pushing your Aunt Joan around the park. Perhaps that good karma brought the golf cart to you.

Lovely tour and I agree, the golf cart would have made it so much more fun! The Gothic Temple as a holiday cottage made me snigger - it is so over the top!

How hilarious, bombing round Stowe park in a golf buggy!
Stowe is not far from where I grew up so I know it pretty well, and the posh Stowe school boys used to come into Buckingham on a Saturday, where I had a Saturday job in a bakery - weren't my type though, but my friend liked the whole Brideshead posh boy thing and used to ogle them as they bought their chocolate eclairs. There's a dirty joke in ere somewhere.
But dragging myself back from 1981 - you look beautiful, gorgeous frock, and all the photos of the follies and lakes and temples and arches are lovely. Hope the two blokes (ex-Stowe boys perhaps?) enjoyed their cake. xxxxxxx

Wow! I love the place, thank you for strolling me around and taking me to discover those beautiful places! My favourite is the golden statue and the photo of the pond with the view of the twin temples! I'd love to have lunch with you in that fabulous table, you look amazing in your floral frock!
Happy Birthday to your lovely dogs!

I'm just imaging you lot bombing round the grounds of that stately home like chavs on a quad bike. Bet the posh National Trust members were tutting in disgust.
How gorgeous you look in that fancy frock and I'm mesmerised by your boobs at the dinner table.
Happy birthday to the doggies, what a shame they missed out on the fun! xxxxxx

I've always fancied seeing Stowe, particularly the gothic folly, so how wonderful that you have saved me the trouble. Now I can live vicariously through you. The image of you and Aunty Joan in a golf buggy doing the grand tour is one I shall treasure and enjoy for quite some time!! What a honey you look lounging sexily over various bits of stonework. Saucepot! That 18th century dinner looks a bit scant. I think you need chips with that.
Pooooochies!!! xxxxx

It's a lovely place - I went there a couple of years ago and, though I'm usually much more of an inside person than outside person when visiting places (furniture over flowers) I have to admit that these gardens are pretty magical. :)

Omg is it wrong or just me being a silly American that as I see your Grannie in that golf buggy I'm hearing Benny hill music play in my head:). What a cool day out and how wonderful you had transport! The gothic temple/cottage needs to be my home! You are looking fresh in all these fabulous photos! Happy bday to the doggies, Peetee is 10 too!
Loveyouxxxxxxxoooooo

Wish there was a photo of you and your aunt trundling about, you must both have had fun Clare. What a beautiful place, I can't believe people are allowed to stay in the gothic temple, that would be so cool, though I'd be imagining ghosties everywhere. Happy birthday to your doggies and thank you for your kind words about Jordie, it is a horrible evolutionary glitch that our pets' lives are so short isn't it. xx

Wow! That's a very posh looking place (That's my attempt at sounding British). There's something very funny about the idea of zipping around such elegance in a little golf cart - if only the dogs had of been with you it would have been perfect! Happy Birthday to the little fuzzmonsters by the way. We have them for such a short time - it's so unfair.

I do love the pic of you looking all saucy like in the Temple of Venus ... you might have to take Mike along next time for a bit of outdoor exploration - ooh err!! ;). You frock is divooooon, perfect for a lovely day out with your dear aunty. I have piles of great nieces and nephews now, hopefully they'll take me out when I'm in my dotage too! xoxoxoxoxo

Clare, I love your dress. And no, I cannot imagine going to school there. The dogs are sweeties! And they do age fast. My beagle is now 4. What shall I do when she is old? I guess I'll be old too.

XOXO

Ooo, what a pretty dress! The shape and print are perfect. These photos are really beautiful, too. I love the ones of the Temple of Venus. Whenever I look at Gothic architecture, I feel like a part of myself belongs to that era (which sounds really cheesy, but it's true).
