Puking My Heart Out

I'm such an old romantic

It's been an up and down and roundabout week. On Saturday I spent the day in Camden with the sardonic and sensational Lakota - But I didn't get any photos of her! Doh.... well we were talking non stop and it was bitterly cold and often raining.
We visited House Of Guadalupe, which is a booth selling traditional and not so traditional Mexican art - whatever it is... it's NOT kitsch as the floating Virgin of Guadalupe flash intro and Zombie Queen Shrine will testify...
I decided to make my own.

My friend to David came round for charity shop fun, photo session and a stitch n bitch.
He's a fantastic photographer. Here's a couple of photos he took of me in my boudoir...

There'll be some more soon.

In town, I found a kitsch cult classic, slightly water damaged, but huge and only £9.95

Yes! It's J H Lynch's Tina! It's more than I normally pay for a print but I just had to have her.

Remember in January I did a sort of resolution post? One of the things I wanted to finally do is learn to drive.... well I've got my provisional licence and I'm insured to drive our Suzuki Swift, so I'll be taking my first tentative steps round the industrial estate on Sunday.
Lovely Lakota bought me this as a good luck charm...
 It's NOT kitsch.
Here's a video of Monty singing. His hobbies include: Sleeping, Barking, Growlling, Singing, Eating and Chasing Squirrels. He LOVES any electronic sounding music.

Glorious art. You will be fine with LA VIRGEN DE GUADALUPE watching over you.

I'm so glad you're not actually puking your heart out, I was wondering whether the beer in that pub had poisoned us both after my migraine! But that card is seriously genius - it's even better than the shadow boxes, and they are easily as good as the ones we saw in Camden.
Let's do an east end outing soon xxxx

OMG Peetee is making noises to Monty, he also loves electronic music or maybe he is just being tortured. I love your lil dressing area how cute is all your stuff! ANd of course you didn't get pictures of Lakota:) Your card is super RAD and I really am digging your very own religious art!

I find this post offensive....no hang on, that's me...I love that card, you are indeed a romantic.
Love yer shrines too especially Sparkly Sad Jesus. Hurrah for finding Tina at that price, and for starting to learn to drive.
Monty is a rockstar.

That card is great. I love all your holy pictures too. Your boudoir looks like it's filled with interesting things. Good luck with the driving. It took me ages to get off my arse and learn to drive but it's so worth it.

I've been to that Mexican booth in Camden, it's ridiculously expensive. Those photos your friend took of you are fab, all your bits and bobs around you, lovely. Good luck with the driving. Xx

Hello! How are you? Well, I hope! That card is hilarious (and soooo sinister!) . I adore your boudoir shots, you look very pretty!x

Well you're quite the fan of the kitsch religious imagery aren't you! Secondly, I love the pics of you in your room. They have a faint pink cast, they look like the sleevenotes to a CD of a really cool kitcshy girl band. Love it! Also, I too will be learning to drive. I'll be doing a crash course later in the year. Can't wait to get it over with, it's about time I got off my ass and did it. And finally, 'Tina'! Wow, I am more than a tad jealous of that find at that price! ;? xxx

That pretty much sums up how I feel about Valentines day too...maybe we could get together one day and barf love hearts in unison ;)
I love Camden but the market is so expensive now :(
Your artwork is fab as is your fabulous boudoir.
I bought my (small) Tina from a charity shop in Fort William, keep seeing them on eBay for silly money.
Good luck with learning to drive, my husbands been at me to learn for years but I'm lazy and rather like being driven ;)
Lot's of love,
Jennie...xXx

Laughing at Em's comment... I am SO offended.
As if.
How fab to meet up with Lakota. It's easy to get carried away with the chatting and the shopping and forget all about photos.
Your card is genius, love the Divine shrine (and the others too) and the photos of you in your boudoir are beautiful. Surrounded by all your retro knick-knackery, you look like a squalidly glamorous leopard-printed film star.
I think Monty is an incredible talent, he really made that song his own, and I think he has a big future. Call Simon Cowell immediately.
Good luck with the driving! xxxx

Yay! You're driving! Drive right on over here and visit when you have the time. ;) And your sailors license too I guess.
Hilarious Valentine. I would have loved to have had something like that when I was in school to pass around the classroom for laughs.

Don't you look like the queen of kitsch sitting at your dressing table! You look gorgeous, David's captured you perfectly!
Love the shrines, especially my alter ego Divine and the eyeball on the virgin and the Valentine's card is a masterpiece. Definitely NOT kitsch in the slightest.
I do love Tina, I've got two.
Monty is hilarious! xxxxxxx

Ooh I love those photos of you looking all lovely leopardskin starlet in your boudoir. He's pretty good isn't he, your friend?

I spy with my little eye: Vernon Ward, Enchanted Glade, that wonderful ballerina picture, lots of cats and is that the holy spirit, that bird wall piece? I'm rather fascinated by your house.

That must be the sale of the century, getting lovely Tina for less than ten squid! Well done!! xxxxx

Wow, huge congrats on learning to drive! I took lessons when I was 18 and never took my test. I'm now 42 and terrified of learning, esp in France!

Love Tina! xoxo

That shop is amazing Clare, I need to add that to my list of places to visit in London, even if I can't afford anything in it. It looks a lot more fun to make your own shrines as you did anyway. Love that you made one for Divine! David's photos of you are gorgeous, the colours look amazing, the two of you obviously make a good team. And Monty is so cute, he looked like he was dancing a bit at the start too. xx ooh and the Valentines card is great, the perfect gift for reluctant romantics. xx
