Oh!! What A Beauty!

This Saturday a mystical and primal Oracle told me my bread will never rise.

Mike and I decided to go to a trip to London. We went along to Tate Britain to see my friend Paul a performance at the Turner Prize Exhibition.

Paul was performing Spartacus Chetwynd's nominated performance "Odd Man Out". I'm not a huge fan of performance art due to a bad experience of it at a previous art school. (When I say bad experience, I don't mean a terrible Fluxus accident or performance artist abuse, it was just so mind numbingly shit, it drove me mad)
Here's a video of the performance. When I was called up to consult The Oracle (who was in fact my friend Paul) - I was told "my bread will never rise" - Mike was told "monogamy is not for you"
I loved the music, it was really hypnotic!

We didn't get to look round the permanent collection properly, but we'll go back very soon to have a better look . Paul pointed out this painting which seemed to be a not so subliminal suggestion of huge boobs...
ooh er...check out the size of her pumpkins! get a load of those big juicy melons!

Here's a few new acquisitions to my full to bursting cupboard!
New hair colour and fringe, done by my own fair hand
Emerald dress - Ebay
Boots - Clarks

Tiara - charity shop many years ago
Dress - ebay

I don't normally buy anything more than basics in Primark but I couldn't turn down this Skeleton Ballerina vest which was only £6. The skinny jeans were £11.
Peepshow neon signs seen in Soho and the Saw mask and doll head seen in Wycombe
(my Lou Reed, Transformer look!)

ooh and because I know you want to see it, here's my Christmas onesie!!

That's enough indulgence for one day. And keeping to the theme of vegetable innuendoes (one I do like to return to...)

Your new hair colour with the fringe - perfect! These are great photos of you. And ballerina skeleton top is priceless.
I watched the performance piece - Paul must be a very cool dude. They created a fantastic creepy vibe, great set and costumes. I like watching this kind of art if I'm free to go when I want and I don't have to write an essay about it. Did you tell the oracle that you love flatbread?

Your bright red hair is delicious! That blue dress is great, really like that flowing style and length. What a fantastic shot of your onesie! I did want to see it! :) xxx

Ooh, nice hair. bye!

Well, it certainly was an intriguing performance....I'm not a huge fan, I usually find them too obscure and self indulgent, but I did quite like this! General weirdness is always welcome.
I can't stand it when people are all funny about being asked to participate! It's always on the cards, so why sit in front?! And what's so bloody bad about it?! I love participating, they usually can't get rid of me if I get the opportunity!
You looked totally fabularse, of course! Awesome outfit, and your new finds are divoon, especially the emerald frock! FOXY!

Only joking! lots to comment on, not least the very flattering onsie shot - it suits you so much. Mum bought me a leopard print one - it just ends up sawing my arse like a cheese wire. Maybe I'm too tall.

Captivating performance there - must have been very exciting to witness live. Enough to make your bread rise and twist your melons.

Did I mention your hair? It's so shiny and pretty. Emerald dress is my favourite. I like that style very much.

Melons. Always rude. My youngest son has a large head - my dad says "Sonny, yer 'ead is like an October cabbage". The painting made me think of that.

When are we meeting next then?

What's wrong with me?! I didn't comment on your meloniously harmonious MELONS!
PINEAPPLES!!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, lets dance this mess around!

LOVE the bright bright hair!
I was thinking the same as Helga, feeling irritated by that silly hair-flicking girl who wouldn't join in. ("The oracle thinks you're a boring twat, love.")
That said - it's all a big piss take, surely? Is it art, or having a laugh? When I was a college, one of my fellow students did a performance piece in which he wrapped his naked self in cling film, then rolled and wriggled around the floor, bits a-flappin', sloughing off the cling film, symbolising... any damn thing you like, presumably! Funny though. More nudity on English and Drama courses, I say, as long as it's not me.
Loving both new dresses, green and black both look very dramatic against your red hair. And the Transformer-esque pics are amazing. When is your CD out?
Melons, and pumpkins, and onesies - oh my! xxxxxxxxx

I love, love, love your hair like that. I thought it looked great on you pink, but the red is so vibrant and in yer face! I'm waiting for mine to get that bit longer before I start hacking into my fringe too. Homecut fringes rock, I think. That's definitely a boobilicious painting isn't it? I used to love those art programmes with the Nun, and she was always looking at a bare willy or a massive hooters. That velvet dress is gorgeous btw. xx

Love the skeleton tee, this is something i would buy for sure

I checked the video, art is art isn't - artsie fartsie they say here...we have those type of performance here as well, i'm not sure if i am a fan but i always give it a chance and might inpire you at some point-

That 'melons' painting is hilarious! Your eye is totally drawn to her- er-generous melons! The oracle thing is funny though the music creeped me out a bit after about 30 seconds!!!! My what a lovely selection of dresses- that velvet one is totally awesome, totally Holly Golightly- you just need the cigarette-holder!
The onesie- even though it is polka dot, and very fetching on you- nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! I can't seem to get past the idea of a onesie being a babygrow!!!

I love that kind of performance. I need to get out more and enjoy it. You look stunning in that black number, wowza!! I really am lovin that Lou Reed photo edit you did to yourself. Awesome! What program did you do that in? It would make an amazing screen print too.

Any post featuring Kenneth Williams and gratuitous double entendre is always going to be OK by me. That picture is loaded with metaphor isn't it, flamin nora! I was struck by the brightness of your hair. It looks fabulous. I also love the way you've styled that dress with the baby pink boots and jacket. That colour really suits you. I can't believe that skeleton tee is from Primark. They do come up with the goods from time to time. I must get down there pronto! Thank you for cheering me up with this fab post xxx

Love the hair and I particularly love the black dress (velvet?) with the boots!

You keep getting more adorable with every post. This bright red hair is fierce on you and you are rocking some serious cute outfits here. The onsie is my favorite for reals, when I wear mine Chris says there is no way we're having sex HAHAHHAHHAH!!!! That performance is pure entertainment GOLD, oh how I would love to hang out with you Clare ~ you are too much fun.
I love you girl!

Your hair looks a brighter red than before in these pics Clare, have you dyed it again? It looks fantastic with both your new dresses which are also fantastic. The green one makes me think of Sacramento's seapunk blog and Kezzie is right, the black one is pure Holly Golightly. Love your Transformer pics too, I think you look very Siouxsie Sioux in the big one. You look very cute in your onesie but I know I'd have the same problem as Lucy, I'm definitely too tall, plus I'm always boiling when everyone else is cold so I think I'd cook in one of them. Performance art can be really cringey sometimes but I really admire people who have the balls to do just get out there and do it. Your friend's performance did look intriguing. xx Oops, Happy New Year Clare in case I haven't said it already, I'm losing track! xx

I'm totally in love with your new hair colour, the outstanding outfits, the Oracle and the Lou Reed inspired photos!!That Skeleton Ballerina vest is a great find and the "pumpkins" obsessed painter was a genius!!I really need to experience a Fluxus accident now!!
Lots of love

I'll be honest, I've never really got performance art - but most contemporary art is beyond me these days, probably why I only only managed a year at art college! The vegetable painting just goes to show everyone loves a double (or single) entendre!

Truly, what a BEAUTY! I've swiped two pics of this post already and put it in my inspiration folder. I love the hair color and the frocks you are wearing! You look uber cool, and fun to boot. I'm not a performance art sort of girl- not patient for that- I'm prone to enjoy art of the practical too much I suppose. Like pumpkins paintings that remind me of bosoms, perhaps? Ha. Well, keep up the frock rocking and show off your paintings, I mean pumpkins!

I love, love, love your hair in red. I've rebrightened my red hair yesterday, too.
I think red hair is great with black clothes as you wore above. The pictures remind me of Snow White. Your skin is as white as snow, your hair is as red as blood and your clothes are as black as ebony. Btw thank you for your sweet comments on my last posts.

Oh my!!! You've changed the color of your hair. I think it matches with your new black dress like others said, my cute girl in England♡♡♡ I wish I could visit London again, haha it must be a dream.

Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

Oh Clare how I have missed reading your blog its like a saucy jewellery box full of wonderful and unexpected treasures!! I love you new hair, I loved the pink, but now I have seen the red, well I really think its your colour, you look more confident and sassy, especially in the black dress, wow you are oozing glamour! (the only time oozing is a good thing!). It was a mesmerising performance, the immovable girl did make me chuckle, why sit in the front row unless you are prepared for participation!

Lordy, that painting is, well enough to make one blush, what a bountiful harvest, the few small parsnips in there too made me chuckle! Ahhh, Kenneth Williams is the perfect way to end any post, especially that song, I remember as a kid finding recordings my dad had of round the horn and listening to Kenneth Williams, I had no idea about the innuendo then, just loved the willow the wisp man with his silly voices and songs, best introduction to British humour there could be!! xxx
