| note the Olbas Oil and Snowball, our cold and alcohol filled Christmas |
Hello, I didn't mean to be away so long but I've had some sort of endless virus since last Friday, so I've either been ill or the weather's been too bad to go outside and take photos!
The photo above shows how we spent our New Years Eve - at Mike's brother's and girlfriend's flat with Parker the cocker spaniel playing Trivial Pursuit - I won.
I thought I'd give you a quick look at what people have bought me and what I've bought myself since Christmas!
Hello Kitty Cotton Candy from Mike's other Bro and Sister in Law, A Beautiful calendar of Kay Nielsen fairytale illustrations from The Works, Woolly Foxy bag from my Sister, fabulously good quality and cheap boots from Ebay
Laura Ashley Polkadot Hair bow and Lurex Leopard Print Jaeger Top from a Charity shop, Fuzzy deer from Wilko and Wind up clown from Mike, Hello Kitty for Liberty purse from Boots and Bubbly Dazzler bottle of Bucks Fizz with sequin cover from Mike and handbag from my Aunt
painted hankie 25p, box of craft things £1 and fountain pen £3
This Saturday, Mike and I are going to London - woo!! a much needed escape, so hopefully there'll be a few outfit photos at last!
This year my general aims are:
1. Travel more - I haven't left the country for 10 years so I'm desperate to visit Paris and Rome (and Edie Pop!

ah! Paris!
2. Make exercising less of a chore. I'm going to try 60's go go dancing in the kitchen
3. Learn to drive - seriously have to do this!

4 - Start an interesting job or MA course - I want to work with history, art or conservation, so no more 2012 style procrastination

All hail Lucy Worsley
5. Take the pressure off making art and just go for it. Who wants to collaborate?
Must get that art school madness back...
Ok, so that's it. I'll be back soon.

I love your resolutions and your gifted haul! Ok, you must go to Rome, meet glorious Edie Pop and hug her for me. Then with all the art you've made, have a show, sell all your art work and come visit me. I need some jumpstart in the art creation department too! Happy New Year, you lovely Miss S, you!
I'd love to collaborate in 2013! Let's have an art post day of the week or month and we can post any goofy or inspired thing we've created. I love the box on your head. Remember doing so many creative fun stuff like that as a kid and it seems like a lot of the imagination dissipates as I get older. But that's just all in our minds. I must change that!
Here's to more childlike enthusiasm in 2013!!
I love your positive way of looking at things...I'd much rather dance in the kitchen than bust my butt in the gym :) Looks like you made out quite lovely with all your Christmas goodies! I'm smitten by that little fox sweater! Very best wishes in 2013 darling! xoxo
Excellent! They are proper resolutions.
I'll collaborate..I've been asked to do some paintings for people out of the blue. First commissions in years so my painting mojo is back, baby. I'm going for it this year.
Happy New Year, lovely and don't be a stranger!
xxxxxxx
Hey Clare! Happy New Year!! Your post title made me giggle! I set myself up with a bunch of resolutions, but I am happy about them. My feeling in general is that when we need to make a change, we need to make a change, january 1 or not, but it's a fun time to do something! Love seeing your gifts, and hope you are all better soon! xoxo Lynn
love the fox bag <3
I'll collaborate with you! Definitely want to do more arty stuff this year too!! Also you can come and go go dance in my kitchen too if you like. Xx
I saw that foxy bag in a shop, isn't it the best? I wish I'd bought it now, it looks even cuter on your blog lol. Sounds like you're in for an exciting year. I'm planning a trip to one of the places you mention, but I can't say which or when since it's a surprise for hubby's birthday... maybe I'll run into you there. lol. Enjoy London. xx
Ah, whatever happened to the good old mini Metro? Ha ha, I love your art school pics and I love the leopard jumper. At first, I thought the bow was attached to it. You should wear them together, they look fab! I don't bother with resolutions, that is to say I don't bother making them for the new year. Whenever I make them they end up falling by the wayside with a whimper. I am with you on learning to drive though. Thanks for the Lucy Worsely link. Have you heard of the historian Kate Williams? She's a bit of a royalist bore to be honest but I love her pre-raphaelite style! xxx
god it's been so very long since I painted anything I think I have forgotten how. Gonna keep kicking your butt to get on with the historical job plan!
Oooh, what a good lot of aims! All achievable and nice! I also like your purchases! Look forward to seeing your outfit with the new top and bow! I almost picked up a dress for you in a charity shop today- it was an 80's-looking Bertex navy and white floral one but I thought the length wasn't totally you, it was mid-calf length but it was pleated so I wasn't sure it could be chopped! Shame, as I liked the material!x
Driving? I'm too scarred to learn how!
I probably need a gym and a detox after all the wine and treats I just eat, yeah vacation!
Hi Clare!
Happy NY to you
Art school madness oh yes thiat will be fun
I have a few resolutions as well but not too serious
I will have to find a job or figure out what i want to do...so much fun ahead!
Ariane xxxx
Are you feeling better, love? Olbas oil and snowballs sound a deadly combination! Nice pressies, those boots look great, and you can never go wrong with leopard print.
So - 2013. The year you drive to Rome, hang out making art with Edie, go-go like crazy, and get a job as Head of Art and Interesting Old Things in Paris.
It's going to be your year, I feel it in me water!
If you can fit me in to your busy arty farty schedule of world domination, I am hoping to see you at some point. I can't promise you any art, but I'll go-go! xxxxxxx
Glad to hear you are feeling better and heading to London! I adore all your gifts and the cat wool purse is super sweet! I'll see ya in Rome with Edie that sounds like fun! I too feel like this will be a crazy creative year, why I've spent all week painting, why to you see what I made! I love your attitude Clare and I think you will do a lot of living this year.
Loveyou!
Krista
In art school I would have been forced to write a long essay, Cardboard Box Head: A Serious Critique, full of multisyllabic words and references to art genius writers and social theorists. It took me years and years and years to recover from the trauma so now when I see you I just get to LOVE your cardboard box head. Mwah! And I want to drive a pickle car!!!
Your travel plans are outstanding. Your purchases are awesome - especially those mint-green boots. And you may want to market your exercise plan. I feel a serious case of Good Year ascending upon you. I hope you are feeling better.
I want to go-go dance in my kitchen too! *love* your gifts and purchases!! Very very cute stuff!!! I just thought to myself yesterday how I wanted to do paper mâché again. For some unknown reason I love making per school child sorts of things with gluey muck and paper.
*pre School* not per school!!!! Lol
I adore your latest boots...looking forward to seeing them on you. I love that fox bag as well. I'm sorry you've been unwell, I do hope you are feeling much better again soon. I figured there was no point to making any new years resolutions, I'm sure I'd only disappoint myself! Xx
Lucy Worsley is one of my favourite things on TV. Sorry to hear about your lurgy, I've had it too and it's a nuisance! Happy Go-Go dancing! xx
Oh yay for lots of lovely pressies! So sorry you've been sick FOREVEEEEERRR my love - that is SHITE. Did Parker win the trivial pursuit? He looks very smart! I think your goals for 2013 are marvellous - though AUSTRALIA is a better destination than dirty old Paris, surely!? Love your fabulous guts and happy new year, FUCKING ROCKSTAR!!! Sarah xxx
Happy new year!!!!I really can't wait to meet you in Rome!!This is the best goal for the new year, we should discuss about a serious collaboration!!!I love all your presents and the green boots are marvellous!!!This post really makes me so happy and the art school photos are wonderful!!I really need to be closer to stimulating people like you!!
Love xxx
Go for art, my dear friend, and dance in the kitchen.
Happiest 2013, lovely Clare.
I love and WANT all your presents.

Heeeey, Sexxy laydeee - sorry, kids have been driving me up the wall with Gangnam Style, I am strangely desperate for the next pop craze to come along! Happy New Year! You have some lovely new stuff - I was very spoilt too. We should meet up and compare. Do you fancy Camden sometime? Or Shoreditch?
Or we could art it up somewhere? (although I warn you that I mainly like museum shops)
Kitchen dancing is excellent, driving is mostly overrated.
xx
