The rising of the sun and the running of the deer

Hurrah, it's nearly Christmas!
Sorry it's taken me so long to post again, I've been running around shopping and it's hardly stopped raining - oh except when I was work. Never mind. Here I am.

I've been really lucky with parcels recently, here's some cards and fantastically real looking meringue mushrooms from the very talented Bella's giveaway
I also took part in the Faith Hope and Charity Shopping Christmas swap, my partner was the lovely Kezzie who sent me the following:
Handmade Hello Kitty earrings, handmade decoration, poppy pottery pot, hilarious fortune telling cards, hello kitty brolly, already used a lot and some marshmallows, which have been already eaten!
Thanks so much Kezzie, they're all fantastic!

I've picked up some hideously tacky decorations this week:
Glass polar bear, horrible Santas, one antlered deer - Babycham? 70s decorations all 10p-50p, I also picked up a couple of moon, sun and star decorations -remember them?

I also got a package of love from Curitse
The mad batwing 80s dress is really comfortable and I've already worn it, a Madonna and Child to add to my collection and a little dog to join the other two I have

Ivy Wreath - from a garden fence (not mine)
Jacket - Ebay
Dress - seen in a previous post, since been chopped up
Dog - a bit pukey, poor thing

I've been tracing loads of my family recently and I found a great-great-great-great uncle William West who was imprisoned for stealing hay. The local council has a fantastic database which shows photos of some of the Victorian prisoners of Aylesbury jail. I took the unusual step of making brooch of his photo...
Here's the village Christmas tree, it's huge!
this one taken by me

This one for scale

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone. Here's my warmest fuzziest Christmas tune

Merry Christmas my gorgeous Clare.
We are having 26Âșc at the moment. A bit crazy too for the south of Spain.
Much love.

I bet poor ol' William West never had a thought that his photo would ever end up with a bit of glitter and lace made into a brooch. I love it.

Wishing you a wonderful Christmas season..........

Merry Christmas my dear Clare!!I adore this Christmas post and your outfit is stunning in a Dickens Christmas carol's way!! Lace, velvet and ivy is a perfet combination for these Holydays and the vintage decorations you found are wonderful, especially the red reindeer!
I wish you all the best
Lots of love

My three favourite things are 1) the meringue mushrooms (Raymond Blanc did a great winter scene dish with some of these recently, I fancied making it but it said 2hrs prep and 2hrs making or something ridiculous) 2) your ivy wreath (very nymph-like) and 3) the madonna and child. Have a great Xmas xx

Clare, what great packages!! Fun, fun, fun! You look beautiful as always!! You have the best eyes. Just sayin'. I love the brooch you did! And I am jealous over the family history resources you have!! I love to trace our tree, and one of my favorte things to make is family brooch pieces -- pictures of family members preserved forever in a brooch!! xoxo Lynn PS -- Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you.
Your tree pisses all over Ponty's!

Lovely parcel there - your Hello Kitty collection must be getting huge now.
Look forward to seeing you modelling that beautiful dress from Curtise - I do adore a bit of 80's style.
Stealing hay - what a rebel, a great story to tell anyone who asks about the brooch.

Have a wonderful few days, looking forward to more meet-ups. You're BRILLIANT!

Lucy x

You collect Madonna and Child? I love religious art in general, probably from my Catholic upbringing. Those two ugly Santa's are too funny too. I have a collection of super tacky moving/musical Santas but I don't get them out anymore. My family was sick to death of their sound and I guess I got tired of buying batteries every year.

I want to see that dress on you. I bet it looks great!

Bloody hell, that tree is bastard massive! Walsall hasn't got one this year (or at least if they have I've been too pissed to notice!)
You look gorgeous, love the ivy headband and the glorious combo of lace and velvet. William West is the best subject for a brooch I've ever seen, sure beats those wimpy cameos!
Love Curtises's parcel, the dress is fab and so's Mary. Kezzie's done you proud, can't wait to see what you sent her.
Those Santa's are very disturbing but the one-antlered deer is sweet.
Have a very merry Xmas and hope Monty gets better soon! xxxxxxxx

I love the tacky Santas - they remind me of the 70s when I was growing up. :) The dresses are fab and nothing like a big ole glittery village Christmas tree to get you in the festive spirit! How cool that you unearthed some of your fam`s history - how long did William stay in jail for, I wonder. Hope you have a very Happy Holidays, Clare! xo

You look lovely with the ivy in your hair Clare and I see you decided to chop the dress, you decisive girl you, I would still be sitting dithering. We have a similar Santa to yours, that my mum gave us years ago and it's a tradition among the kids to see who will find him first when we get the deccies out. I love your cameo of your great great great great? uncle, what a nice way to keep his memory alive, instead of just having his photo stuck in an album somewhere. And you have a burgundy velvet jacket! Where is everyone finding them? I've wanted one for years but every time I find one that's close there's always something just not quite right about it, yours is gorgeous, I love all the little buttons. Hope you have a lovely Christmas Clare. xx

Hi clare, was there not a floral vintage brooch in the parcel too? I'm not sure what happened to it if so? Your ivy wreath looks so pretty! Love the tacky decorations too! Kezzie x
