Today, I was a Christmas Elf/Reindeer Hybrid at the manor's Father Christmas's grotto. I think I was immersed in enough childlike rampant enthusiasm to last a lifetime and it did actually get me in the spirit, so with a lack of purchases this week I thought I'd share some alternative Christmas imagery, plus a couple of photos of things I've been up to

Sitting under the mistletoe
(Pale-green, fairy mistletoe),
One last candle burning low,
All the sleepy dancers gone,
Just one candle burning on,
Shadows lurking everywhere:
Some one came, and kissed me there.
Tired I was; my head would go
Nodding under the mistletoe
(Pale-green, fairy mistletoe),
No footsteps came, no voice, but only,
Just as I sat there, sleepy, lonely,
Stooped in the still and shadowy air
Lips unseen - and kissed me there.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
The thingy (giant? Can't remember) of Green Knowe!! I loved that book! The pic under that is decidedly creeptacious!Love that top left pic, you look all snuggly and wonderful!
That's most excellent if you're starting to feel the chrissy spirit.A few alcoholic egg noggy things will help, too!
XXXXXXXXXXXX
Very good work! I could really love Christmas if it was a bit more creepy as well as kitsch.
Your hair - I haven't commented have I? It's absolutely glorious, beautiful and even better than pink, which is unbelievable because the pink was awesome.
I've done some very Christmassy things this month, but I haven't dressed like a slut and had a dance to 90's rave classics yet. Join me?
I love your beautiful take on Christmas in pictures, Clare! So fun.
These are really beautifully different Clare and I am loving the feel of this post. Christmas with a bit winter darkness and mischief!
I love this nightmare before Christmas post!!You've captured beautifully the victorian gothic atmosphere of the festivities and I love it because it's a very British mood, spending your days at the manor must have given you a great sense of decadent beauty, all the images are wonderful!
xxxx
Christmassy! We used to sing 'The Boar's Head' carol in the school choir. I like it,it's bonkers. I'm singing it for you now...xxxxxxx
You look stunning in that first pic....your hair looks divine! Xx
Those top pics are lovely, very atmospheric and twinkly. Particularly like the Manor and the willow arch walkway thing. :)
Now those are fantastic seasonal images although you and Monty steal the show!
The Manor looks splendid, not a hint of those hideous blue lights & inflatable horrors loved by all the residents of the Walsall housing estates. xxxx
That manor looks enchanting - and I could only wish that there were places that beautiful and historical where I live. I just want to frolic through that lighted archway right now! :-) Lovely seasonal images too - that elf one has me smiling! xo Marisa
I thouroughly enjoyed all of these pictures!! The manor looked AMAZING!!!
What a great set of images, Clare. Waddesdon and Hughenden look beautiful (those Rothschilds knew a thing or two about grand houses), but I would have paid good money to see you as the Elf/reindeer, why no pics?!
Christmas in the Country? They all look pissed as farts, so that's about right then. Where on earth did you find the photo of the Rifle Club in straw masks? Bit Wicker Man-ish, totally bizarre and fabulous!
Dog+snow=CUTE! xxxxx

Some of your Christmas pics were rather SCARY! Like the weird (I have no clue what they were bag heads, box heads WITH GUNS?! EEEAAAAK!
Your poochie is so cute cute cute. I love the photo with you in the twinkley lights.
They did a reading of that Walter de la Mare poem at my Auntie's Christmas concert on Saturday!!
The people with boxes on their heads are creepy....
xx
It is refreshing to see a mood board that doesn´t incluse the typical shoes, party dress and others.
You are always a a genius, dear Clare.

I wonder if i will be able to keep my pink hair when i return to work , it depends on the industry and what you do i guess
Love all your brilliant mood board like Sacramanto said it is a change from shoes and party dresses!
Loved the song at the end, who sings it?
Ariane xxxx
Hi Clare, If I don't catch up before Christmas, have a lovely day and I hope Santa brings you lots of goodies, Tam x
I love that first house, it's so pretty and that statue is rather creepy all wrapped up like that. That doglet looks so cute in the snow!
You look like Peggy Lee! That was my first thought when I started watching the video - after I stopped swooning over the imaginery of the gloved hand pulling back that jewelled curtain, that is.
I love this post. It's so refreshing to see a Christmas image stripped of the Disney veneer. My favourite photos here are you in that incredible twinkle-light tunnel and that ghost statue which is brilliant.
Dearest Clare,
The manor looks GORGEOUS and yo look fabulous in the illuminated grotto♡♡♡ I wish I could feel Christmas at the place like this. Educational post from England, my friend.
Your doggy loved the snow, doesn't she (he)♬♬♬
Wishing you a merry and holy Christmas from east.
Ooh I LOOOOVE the first pic of you in the beautiful tunnel of lights so much! And the dog in the snow makes me so happy! The black and white pic of the dudes with cardboard box masks (?!) is bloody fantastic - are they a family of serial killers? I bloody hope so. Sarah xxx
