Life's enchanted cup sparkles near the brim.

Byron's portrait at Hughenden Manor

I've been making things too. Well, making is a bit of an exaggeration. Adjusting is more apt.

Morrissey earrings! bit clumsy but still fun

Brooch made last week and worn to Hyper Japan on Saturday

decorated crucifix

Look away Vix and Helga! I bought this teddy bear at the Salvation Army Christmas bazaar, but as you can see, he didn't have any eyes, those brown bits might be his eyes, but anyway, he looks a lot better with these buttons
Last night after the earrings, crucifix and bear, I couldn't stop and finally adjusted this skirt

probably needs hemming, I may or may not be bothered to do that

Last week I got a parcel of love from Vix
this utterly divine vintage cotton slip has been repaired and adjusted over and over. It's a proper Frankendress (thanks to The Folly Bird for that one) and it's too small. I'm fine with getting Vix to adjust it for me as it's too small on the bust but fits perfectly everywhere else.

She also sent
 Beautiful Hindu card
Fab polka dot shorts and houndstooth maxi!

80s slip, worn under my lacey dress on Saturday

Thanks Vix, you're a star!

My friend Lucy dropped round today, she'd text me and asked if I wanted some green mary janes. Obviously I text back instantly saying YESSSS!
amazing

She also kindly gave me
 This fantastic vintage neckercheif
Reading and watching material  - I'm a big fan of Daphne DuMaurier

ooh I've been doing some conservation work at Hughenden Manor (only voluntary, sadly)
Here's a statue I cleaned

It's getting very dark and atmospheric in the manor, often it's difficult to see objects very well by 2:30 in the afternoon (we keep lights low for conservation and authenticity purposes).

I'll be back later on this week! Hopefully with some outfit posts!

More Morrissey earrings and a giveaway please!

You are a cultured soul, if only every day could be spent at the Manor and evenings making cool stuff - wouldn't life be good. Why do we have to do mundane shit for money? Not fair!

Loving today's title. What a fab place to work! I'd be waiting till closing time and running around in that frock pretending to be a ghost.
Your makes are fabulous, the earrings and brooch are gorgeous and so's Jesus. That skirt's brilliant, all the revamped dresses and skirts with unfinished hems were way more expensive in Cow on Saturday. Must be a hipster thing!
Your new scarf is gorgeous, is there a make on it? I've just come across a similar Native American one, wonder if they're related?
Send us that slip, I'll get it done before Xmas! xxxxx

I watched Room with a View last night, which I always love. The manor house in its darkness must be very calming. Is it spooky? Do you hear whispers of the past? I am fascinated by conservation work - how great that you got to work on such an exquisite piece.

And yay!! Your "adjustments" are more than that. I especially adore the bug brooch - bugs as adornment are a favourite. And what a treasuretrove of clothing. Can't wait to see you in all of these pieces.

YAY for goodies and creating and sniffing about old places as a volunteer! Fun times! the only thing that could make ANY of it better is if we see pix of you, slightly plastered (no more than that bust, though.BOOM BOOM!) and wafting about the manor with your awesome Morrissey earrings hanging off your nipples!
O, and wearing those shoes! I love those shoes! EEEK!
Rock on, saucy bint! XXX

You are on a creative binge! Are you reading your books? Looks like you've been quite productive. I love the crucifix art so much here. Gives me some ideas myself. Keep it coming!

I LOVE that skirt with the horse pockets! So so cute. And I love your parcels too. Cotton slips are so hard to find here but sorely needed in our heatwave. Those green mary janes are to die for!!! Xx

So much loveliness! I haven't seen that Vanity Fair opener before (read the book and watched the TV adaptation) so I really enjoyed that. I always like to see glimpses of Hugheneden, including mad, bad and dangerous to know Lord Byron. How great that you get to do some conservation work. I wonder if there are courses to begin some training in that area, I can really see you loving that kind of work.
Good to see the creative juices flowing! Pimping up Morissey and Jesus, and look! A miracle! The teddy was blind and now he can see! And he's smiling now too.
Always a great care package from our Vix, and a personal tailoring service too? Brilliant. Can't wait to see that maxi skirt in action. Love the cute slip.
You sound perky, hope things are good with you, love! xxxx

The manor is a wonderful place, you are so lucky to be in such a place, beauty is so important and living without it is unbearable,I'm glad you shared those great photos with us, I like all the "poortraits", the blue costume on display and the bust. There's another Venetian book ,I read it's from 1672, I'd love to have a look at all the antique objects there!Anyway I'm glad you are doing lots of crafty works, it's always a great inspiration to see your creations and those Moz earrings are the cutest!!I adore the horses skirt too, I'd like to find a similar fabric and together with pink is unbeatable!!Vix is a sweetheart, I adore everything she sent you and she did a great work with the Franken-slip!!

Oooo, Clare, I am jealous over the green shoes! I would have said yes too! You've been busy making things; it makes me happy! And how cool to get to work in conversation like that. I am jealous about that as well, but I will try to contain myself. Love all of the treasures and the term Frankendress! haha! xoxo Lynn PS -- Rock on English poets.

What a brilliant place to go to work! I could spend my day working there instead of a school no problem. I love Byron but I'm a Shelley girl in the end. And rather spookily, the Du Maurier book is next on my reading pile!
Also love your makes...I do go for a jazzed up Jesus.
Those green shoes will look delicious with the houndstooth maxi...photos please!

Hi sweetie! You have been creating like mad! The ladybug brooch and crucifix are way too cool, love them both! Lucy hooked you up with those sweet Mary Janes, why the color alone has me swooning! You work in such an interesting place so much to see and learn I bet. That bust is elegant, I would be so nervous to clean it, I'm kinda accident prone:(. The parcel from Vix is filled with lots of lovely bits to wear under dresses you will get so much wear out of them.

Btw I miss the doggies. How are they?
Much love
Xxxxoooo
