A 99 with a flake please!

a 99 for my non UK readers

My 99th post - hurrah!

Just a quick one, I didn't want to leave it a week without posting, especially as I had found a couple of good things recently.
on Vix's good authority I'm informed this is the incarnations of the Hindu Goddess Parvati  -called Durga.
She was £2 from a charity shop

On Saturday we went to another jumble sale - no drug paraphernalia - but I did find this rather unusual Wedgwood teapot - I need to ask an expert about it as I can't find this colour combo online at all
still at 20p, even if it's missing a lid it has to be a bargain!

ooh I added some purple dye to my hair
Here's some extremely sexy glasses I found, but didn't by - WHY THE HELL NOT? you're asking yourselves, as they clearly make me look so hot.

I've updated my postcard tumblr blog
please take a look, I own all the postcards and ephemera on it, nearly everything has been found at antiques and second hand book shops or are family memorabilia

So even if I've STILL not done any art, at least I've been collecting some interesting material.

More recently I've been tracing my family tree with my Mum and whatdya know, I really am a country bumpkin. I've even traced my 6x great grandfather - John (they're nearly all called John) - living in the same parish as I do now. Scary. I even had a dream about all these relatives being a cacophony of voices talking to me.
 Genuine Victorian child relative's grave...

Right that's it. Nice macabre note to leave on.
I'll be back soon with more spoils and hopefully some art.

Here's a photo of a lady I've just discovered who intrigues me - Cleo De Merode

Congratulations on your 99th post!!I adore the British vanilla flavoured ice cream with the chocolate flake, I'd love to live on that!!!Great paraphernalia here, Parvati's picture is wonderful and so the teapot, never seen such a decoration before and the colours are stunning! The photo in sexy glasses should be on your driving licence, they give you a wicked yet reliable look and the new hair dye is highly envyingly!I'd love to track down my family tree too, but I already hear lot of voices!!I think I saw Cleo De Merode's photos somewhere and her beauty is surprisingly modern!
Lots of love!!

Ooh, I love Cleo, she looks like a groovy hippy chick who should have been at Woodstock!
All your postcards and photos are wonderful, what a good eye you have for beauty and quirkiness and a little of the macabre!
Yeah, sexy 70s glasses! You look slightly stoned... but then we know what the jumble sales round your way are like.
My family are pretty much all from Bucks too, my mum's side all south, dad's north. So that makes me a right bumpkin too.
99th? Hurray! I raise my ice cream to the next 99! xxxxxx

Cleo is beautiful and I don't know why reminds me of Vix. You postcards are all so beautiful I'd cover a whole wall with them, now that would ROCK! I like the added lavender to your hair it's so soft and pretty looking in that picture. I can't believe you can trace your family back 6 generations in the same town, that is crazy!!!! I love genealogy! My great grandparents were first cousins, I know gross, but it is funny. My family is the 3rd generation to be born in the US before that they came over from Austria.
LOVEYOU!
Krista

Lots of pretty pics. That Wedgewood teapot was a real bargain. Lucky you!!!

Mr Whippy! We still get those,I think, only ours won't be 99!!!
The teapot is rather pretty;I've never seen a Wedgwood teapot before! G's mama has quite bit of Wedgewood, actually. All blu-tac'd down, which saved it in the earthquakes!
LOVE the Himdu poster,I have quite a fondness for Durga.Cleo does indeed look intriguing!
I know shite about my family,my Mama's father (who was an arsehole) was Irish,I know that, but apparently he didn't exist as the name we knew him by! Naughty past,I suspect. I think there might be German Jew on my Daddy's side, but that is all I know, and all the relevant people who might are dead!Fascinating stuff, though.Being Australian, there's bound to be convict in my history...bushranger would be exciting...

99 posts?! Frigging awesome,babycakes!
Rock on to 199!

Yay, 99 posts! That teapot is great and your hair is looking fabulous. I know almost nothing about the side of my family that lives in England but I am going to ask my grandma all about it when I visit. When my hair is long it's sort of like Cleo's, but not as pretty.

LOVE your recent additions - the lady with the little terrier is my fave, of course! And Cleo is GORGEOUS - I love her beautiful hair. Congrats on your 99th, darling - I am so looking forward to the next 99! LOOOVE! Sarah xxx

Cleo De Merode is gorgeous, like Edie says she's a very modern and current beauty, how odd how fashions come around!
You look gorgeous with your new hair and the huge owl glasses! New blog header?
My Grandpa had a maiden great-aunt who made it her life's work to trace that side of the family tree back to the 17th Century so we can claim Sir Thomas Guy and Oliver Cromwell as our own!
I must check out your Tumblr, not even sure what it is!
LOve the teapot and love Durga, strong women rock!
Happy 99!!! Here's to a million more! xxxxxxxxx

Collecting beautiful old postcards and photographs is art baby. Don't you worry about painting, your eyes and heart are still open to spying exquisite treasures! The teapot is utterly amazing, I've never seen that colour-way before - speaking of colour, YES to a bit of purple added to the pink!!! I love it so, so much!!! xoxoxoxo

Happy 99th post - woo hoo! I don't like flakes, just lots of sauce and sherbet. The photo of you with those glasses remind me of that epsiode of Father Ted where Mrs Doyle keeps bumping into things cos she doesn't want to wear her glasses "I don't like them father, I feel they make me look like a frustrated old bag" Ha ha. I love that Victorian grave, wow. And your hair looks fab. You could go through the whole pastel spectrum xxx

Her eyes are sad.

I thought genealogy was so easy because when I first started some very kind man gave me access to my Nan's family tree right back to the 15th century, his life's work as I know realise!

I'm fixated on the glasses photo. Is that really you? Will you be my best friend?

Lynn Dylan said... Best Blogger Tips[Reply to comment]Best Blogger Templates

You intrigue me. Especially with those hot glasses on. But really, family tree tracing is fun! I love it. You and I both collect postcards. I have mine on line as well, but need to get in gear and add the ones that I haven't added yet. If you ever care to look, they are at http://innatelygray.com/photography/

Dearest Clare,
Wow, 99th post and with ice for us♡♡♡ It is always really lovely to see how you appear in your blog and like the new hair-die and the gorgeous glass.
I wondered who "Cleo De Merode" was and foud that she was a French ballerina♬♬♬ And your Wedgwood teapot is very unique and sure the gray color is rare, I wonder.

Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan to my young friend in England, xoxo Miyako*

Congrats on the 99th post! Can't beat a Mr Whippy, like Helga nothing is never as cheap down here though.

Isn't it interesting tracing back the family tree. I started to track back my mothers relatives. She thought her mothers parents were both orphans (as Gran always remembered) but I found her mothers name and her family. I couldn't trace it back very far though.

My dad always said that we had a famous bushranger as a relative, though I am not so sure now. His reasoning is the all people with the same name are related..hehe

I like your deer in the headlights glasses shot...I bet you are kicking yourself that you left them behind! Your new shade is very pretty. T x

Love the new colour on your hair, you suit all those soft pastel colours. Your postcard collection is lovely too, I was in Kelvingrove Museum yesterday and they had old anti-Suffragette postcards which made me think of you and your collection. I didn't manage to get a photo of them as Riley was racing ahead but I'll try again next time we're there.
It's hard for me to get any family info as my mum was fostered and we never stayed in touch with my dad's family though I have our surname and his hometown to go on so I guess I could do some investigating. They're both Irish so I know I don't have any links with my hometown but I love the idea of being able to trace your family roots back so far in the place where you live, that must be a nice feeling.
I've not heard of Cleo de Merode but she looks very beautiful, I'll have to look her up when I get a chance, how did you come across her? Your Indian goddess picture is a great find too.
Oh and congratulations on your 99th blog! Now I've got that KLF song playing in my head, make mine a 99! xx

Family tree tracing is so fun to get lost in and it's always so interesting what you uncover about your roots.

That teapot is such an amazing find. Looks like it could be worth something but my favorite is truly the glasses..hehe. I think I actually had a teacher who wore a very similar pair when I was in kindergarten!

Have a fab week lovely lady! xo Marisa
