Kawaii Overload

Beware, you may need a lie down in a darkened room after this post.

It all starts calmly enough. On Tuesday night I went to a private view of a friend's (Glaucoma Rosunfate) photography work. I love it, it's strange and surreal and rather magical.

this is my fave, I want a copy! I'm going to be in some of his work soon!

The pub it was held in is in the part of Wycombe I don't tend to visit very often, but it's a great location, pretty much unspoiled, perfect for those with a more intellectual and discerning taste, with tempting sounding nights such as a ukulele night, a literary night and a knitting circle
I talked a lot of art nonsense and gossiped with some old acquaintances. The well dressed guy is a traditional(ish) Romany gypsy.

The next morning, I headed to London to hang out with my friend, the photographer/blogger David
London looked rather romantic in the Autumnal sunshine
Firstly we headed into the Chinese covered market/shopping centre on Charing Cross Rd, I knew there was some great kawaii stuff to be had there and I wasn't disappointed...

droooooll, kitsch heaven! If you're in London - and frankly if you are planning to be, you should invite me along, you really should visit Qu'tse as well as the Purikura at the London Photo Sticker Club

At Qu'tse I bought:

Then we decided to eat, since we are both food obsessed. David got me to try chicken feet at a Dim Sum restaurant in China town! and I liked them!

Then, we went back to the try out the photobooths... Here are the results. I think we created  some bona fide art here...

this one is my favourite!

ok, so we did muck about a bit. It was great, really addictive.
Here's a little view of the machines
I wore:
Hacking jacket - Ebay
Scarf - Arcadia, Oxford
Petticoat - Charity shop -by a label called Sex Machine!
Knee socks and Boots - Ebay

Our Kawaii indulgence ended with a trip to Artbox (they deliver and run competitions on their website
I bought this

I hope I haven't given you a headache, if you can face it then have a look at this!
she's a bit of an inspiration at the moment!

I'm off to catch up on blogs. This weekend I'll be going to the biannual village Jumble. I'm planning to buy loads of stuff for art projects!

さようなら!
and
好运!

Heehee, these are brilliant. I had a go on these in Thailand years ago when I got accidentally forced out on a 'date' with a teenage boy. He took me to a mall to make stickers! My fave is the one where you're wearing cat ears.

OK, I'm seriously looking for an excuse to get down to London now. I used to get down there quite often with my friends for concerts and stuff but I got all growed up and responsible and a mummy! My mind, as you rightly predicted, has been well and truly blown. I love the freaky kitschy pics. You have such lovely skin btw. I love how you can mix autumnal tweeds with kawaii beads! It's that darn fabulous hair of yours that makes everything you wear look like it's been coated in candy. I love all your clothes and I want them all! Btw, your photographer friend is very talented and right up my street. Looking forward to seeing your collaboration xxxx

So much sweetness! Pow, that's J-pop for you. Your pink hair is perfect for this world. I saw a woman dressed in that "eye" dress a couple of weeks ago. What a fun day. You seem to be dialled into a really cool art world. I look forward to your photos.

Dearest Clare,
So sorry for my belated visiting and comment, I was a bit below par but getting better now.
Wow!!! You DID have a good time with your friend in London. Chicken feet and other food at Dim Sum restaurant in China town look really delicious, we can have these food at the certain franchise Chinese restaurant here and I LOVE them as well(♥^_^♥)~*
The machine is called "プリクラ、ぷりくら、purikura”shortened from "print club", which is a Japanese English. They are quite popular in Japan. Haha, many lovely pictures you took♬♬♬ Kind of surprised that the Japanese company sold these thing in your country as well.
I hope you are having wonderful weekend.
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

This is very interesting reading and the pictures are good, but I'm confused by the way this part is written, and may miss the crux of your story because of it.
