I Am, Doll Parts

Funny how people in different parts of the world can suddenly become fascinated by the same thing without knowing. Even funnier when they are all in contact with each other and post simultaneously without knowing about the other. This happened to Sarah Misfit and I this week. And what a beautiful thing it turned out to be!
It started with Melanie
simple, artistic, beautiful and sophisticated

She set the standard of the tulle skirt, step and a teacup shot.
A quick detour to Edie Pop who was coincidently also posing in a tulle skirt last week
 - looking kawaii with a hint of riot grrrl. Great minds etc

Then both Sarah Misfit and I on the same day featured Melanie in the shot above... and Sarah challenged us to pose with a tulle skirt, step and tea cup. Sarah's take was typically psychedelic punk faery
Then Curtise took up the baton, with a gorgeous Moulin Rogue feel.
and then the idea quickly spread back to Australia and New Zealand with Desiree
and her circus queen style
looking fabulously like something from a Lynchian type art film

and now me. I added the dog. and doll.
stole - part of my bridesmaids outfit from last November
jumper - with neck cut off from charity shop
skirts from ebay and local hippy/goth shop
boots - ebay.
Dog - Yorkshire Terrier/Jack Russell Mix, stinky

The teacup is great, it came with one of the 5 or so bottles of Gin my Dad got for his 60th. I love the kitsch Victorian print. I need to drink gin from it soon

 Boxing gloves and roses? Nice.
I had to bring this very strange doll home with me yesterday. She was £3.99. Her skin is grey. Her eyes "are on upside down" (says Vix), they are also yellow. I still haven't decided on a name for her.

If you do like creepy dolls then have a look at Ivy Black's collection. - she's got loads of them - please do a dedicated doll post Ivy!

Here's some tulle inspiration from Courtney.

Your picture is so you Clare. I love seeing your see dog and the creepy doll. This is how Mae West would look having tea, I love it! We all have things in common for sure and we all have exceptional taste :) I love being on the same page at the same time with friends too! Off to check out Em's doll collection.

Love Hole. I enjoyed the tulle montage so much, I nearly slapped myself for being so behind on my blog visiting, and missing out on all the fun. DAMN IT KAREN, LESS TIME MOPING, MORE TIME ENJOYING. Anyhow, love your look. You did indeed look very Courtney-ish. But, not the crazy junkie Courtney, the one who stayed focused and sexy enough to make a couple of really good albums.

Just love your Goth take on the Tulle series, and Courtney is a hot mess after my own heart...I need a creepy doll!

This is my FAVOURITE (I always say that!) post of you. It has such a timeless quality. Your wistful expression with your pup and freaky doll add just the right pinch of pain, and the circus teacup... This is the kind of photo where I want to strike up a conversation and say, hey, what's your story? Hole is a wonderful accompaniment to this. I feel like a feminine Hole (not in that lewd sense! stop that! LOL), grainy, edgy, dark, but proper and sweet at the same time.

Clare, that first photo is one of the best EVER of you, it's fantastic. I am getting fed up 60s kitchen sink heroine, escaping from said sink for a minute to drink gin from her tea cup, wear her finery and dream of another life where she wears fur and tulle every day...
But that's just me!
Creepy upside down eyes doll is rather fabulous, and Stinky Dog is looking so longingly at you in the final photo, I think he wants some tea.
I am so loving all the versions of the tulle and tea cup! xxxxxx

Dearest Clare,
How funny that these tulle skirt with a cup scene got spread♡♡♡ (haha, I loved you and the cute dogie very much, or the best) Oh, I never knew tulle skirt(^^;)
The doll's eyes are upside down, aren't they; first time for meto see, haha. I remember I strongly wished the lovely doll when little but my parents couldn't afford the expensive one I wished. Lovely rest of the week, my friend♬♬♬
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

Excellent! I think you've added a slightly gritty element to the 'contemplative in tulle' series. I'm fascinated by the minds of you all!
Call that doll Myfanwy? Please!

Speak in more detail soonn..

Excellent!!Your photo tells everyone a different fairy tale, at first it reminds me of the heroin of a silent screen movie, but then there are grunge details as the cut off sweater, the pink hair and the steam punk skirt and boots that give a ultra modern touch! I think that after your cup of tea you are going to accept a lift on one of those Myazaki's biomechanical planes and Howl is going to ask you to marry him (but like Curtise says: this is just one of my fantasies!).
Your dog is too cute and so the little doll, even if everyone says she's creepy is adorable and she has my daughters same hairstyle!
Love xxxx

what are the odds!!! yesterday i was strolling along Main St when i saw this gorgeously tall girl in a short pink tulle skirt with badass boots, a denim jacket, a shaved head and burgundy lipstick! i shoulda taken a photo of her :) and then today your post... you look ephemral and badass at the same time btw!

Vix said... Best Blogger Tips[Reply to comment]Best Blogger Templates

You look absolutely stunning, like Edie says, like a silent movie star with that fabulous fake fur collar and the creepy upside-down eye doll and sweet doggie as pals. The tea cup is too cool with the boxing gloves and roses, a totally twee-free zone!! xxxxxxxx

This photo of you is gorgeous and I love how you all took the challenge to re-create the same pose, accessories etc.

I also love how you're even more into Riot Grrl that I am now, I need to get back on that bandwagon :)

Okay, Okay, I'm so on it. I have it all done in my mind. Cheers to all the tutu girls everywhere!

OK, you know I'm going to be all over this right? Needless to say I love the photo of you with that vintage effect. (I couldn't make out if it was Victorian or 1920's?) I also am rather fond of Doll Parts and Courtney (like you didn't know!) I feel sorry for the creepy dolly. She looks sad, as though she knows she's creepy but doesn't want to be. She certainly wouldn't look out of place in that video! xxx

Wow Clare, I feel in the short time I've been here I've already seen you growing so much in confidence and this picture is gorgeous, you look so beautiful and mysterious. I've loved seeing the different ways all you ladies have taken this idea. xx

Aah you look SO beautiful in this picture, I've loved seeing everyone's take on the theme. I told Sarah and Curtise I was almost tempted to have a go myself and actually got as far as digging out my petticoat and - believe it or not - a Hole T-shirt, but my husband just asked me why there was fancy dress on the bed! So I got embarrassed. Maybe I'll do it still, we'll see.

Dolly is amazing, I love her.

Oh my goodness, that's hilarious! They say, "great minds think alike", right? I'm completely jealous of all those tulle skirts and cute teacups. Such lovely photos all around. Your stole is really the icing on the cake. What a beautiful piece! Loving your little pup and how he is staring down your teacup :)

ERMAHGERD! How am I always so far behind??? You look AMAZING! This might just be my all time fave outfit on you - the stole is splendid - the tulle/teacup is perfectly YOU - and that gorgeous stinky dog is my fave accessory of all! The doll is quite horrid/darling - have you named her yet? Sarah xxx

I love everyone's different takes on the tulle and tea cup, you look very glam with the fur. If this buggering rain stops for more than 5 minutes I will be joining you. The doll is a tad creepy, puts me in mind of a Tim Burton creation!
