Don't fence me in

Please don't send me to work tomorrow, I have to travel for an hour on sweaty buses with people who are unfamiliar with oral hygiene and have the IQ of a teaspoon to go and sit in a stuffy office (with nice people mostly) where I will start falling asleep by about 12 and go out of my mind having to type in "hallux vulgaris" for the 1000000th time, under threat of some petty office politics or other.

Here's what I've been wearing to work - I tend to forget to take photos of my outfits...
Thursday
Haori Jacket - £8ish Ebay
White smock shirt - £4ish Ebay
Trousers - £13 ebay (expensive!)
Shoes - £6.99 charity shop (with Lakota!)

 Friday
I've been pinning my hair really high on my head which gives a nice bouffant effect
All as before but with charity shopped gypsy top (you can barely see it!)

Monday
Cotton shirt - Ebay £5ish
Skirt - Alexon Sale Shop  - £3
Shoes as before.
I think this makes me look wide, though it was pretty airy

Hurrah it's hot weather and I can finally soak up some sun in the back garden!
I also got my second Haori jacket in the post yesterday, it's really gorgeous, quite different from the first one...

I also got this gypsy top from ebay...

I thought I'd give you a sneaky peek inside Hughenden Manor where I've been volunteering.

This is the drawing room where I was stationed today! I love it, I really do NOT want to go back to work tomorrow!

I walk to the manor to get some much need exercise and this is part of the utterly beautiful path and fields that I walk though

I just want to run away down the path and find some adventures. I can imagine finding The Faraway Tree at the other end

Sigh, yeah I REALLY don't want to go back to work tomorrow!

Here's some gratuitous photos of my weird little dogs

Dear Clare (dearie me, please tell me I have your name correct), I loved seeing your outfits! You are very pretty! The haori jackets look good on you. And that place you volunteer! And that field!! Oh my, I would never want to return to work where I had to type hallux vulgaris. (You made me laugh.) I type medical notes all day. Can only wonder what you do. Something similar perhaps. Blech. LOL.

Yay for weird little dogs!!! That field is magnificent - please get out there and do some gloriously whimsical Kate-Bush-esque outfit pics for us. The jackets are gorgeous and your hair is nice but I'm pretty sure you could get it BIGGER and whack in a HAIR FLOWER or two! And hubba hubba you look HOT in those cute shorts!! Sarah xxx

Your silly little dog! What cute expressions.
Love you in the Haori tops. I've never known the actual word for them but I have a couple in my wardrobe and love them so much.

Where do I start???!!! Firstly you and your outfits...gorgeous...especially the top one with the Haori jacket, slinky pants and gold shoes and the sweet rufflely cami with shorts!! You fabulous creature!!!
The doggies are hilarious, I want to tickle their bellies and make them wriggle. I'm eyeing up your curtains and imagining a fabulous maxi skirt!
Hughenden Manor is stunning, I don't blame you for wanting to skive off work today. What is it with hot weather and scumbags forgetting to wash??? xxxxx

Work and buses in hot sticky weather, yuck! At least you are bringing some style and pzazz to the Chilterns this summer, Clare! I think I love the first kimono jacket the best, those trousers were worth paying a little extra as they really suit you, and wow, Clare in shorts, hot hot hot! You have fab legs.
Hughenden is looking lovely, and what a beautiful walk to work. Sarah's right, we definitely need some frolicking, whimsical photos - invest in a tripod, and you could take pics on the timer to your hearts content with no one watching, release your inner Flake advert model! xxxxx

Bugger, forgot to mention the dogs. Cutie cutekins! Oh and popped into the Florence Nightingale charity shop in Wendover, thinking all the posh folk round here might have donated granny's fabulous vintage stuff, but no no no, all terrible, not a bean worth buying... Will try in Winslow later today, never know your luck! xx

Tee hee your little doggies are cute little furry monsters!!!!!
Oh I hope the bus ride goes quickly and smell free, you poor poppet.

Oh I don't envy your bus journeys, I loathe and detest buses, but you look fab so it evens it out xxx

I love that field, I like to pretend I'm in a period drama on such paths.

Aah the haori jacket modelled at last - it's really lovely (is it wrong I'd never heard of them before you mentioned them?). And your hair looks great up, mine only does ponytail or bush.

My sympathies on the work thing, I can only suggest immediate lottery win.

I wish I had that kind of walk to work :-(

Oh poor you ... I would have to have to take the bus to work with a load of 'stinkies'. Maybe one day you will get a full time job at the Manor. Love your jackets and those cute little mad dogs. M x

I really sympathise with how you feel. I had one of those "what the hell am I doing here I'm losing my miiiiiiind" days only on Monday. Life is generally mundane as all hell and it wears you down. That's why we need these outlets to help us cope and provide much needed distraction. Hughenden Manor looks positively lovely and I'm sure being there helps to restore some of your soul, and you never know where volunteering could lead you in the future. I think you should reach for the bleach and dye that gorgeous hair of yours. Maybe put a bit of pink in there! Do something drastic, I find that sometimes helps me out of a rut

You've inspired to buy some pants. I don't really do pants due to my extra wide backside and hippage but they look great on you and they must be so easy to wear for work in this weather.

If you find the faraway tree let me know and we'll climb it together!

AH honey sorry about overcrowded public transportation, I know I will be in for a shock when Chris and I use it in September, I am a car kinda girl and rarely use public transportation OUTTA MY BUBBLE SMELLY! I love where you work and the walk there looks like something out of a dream. I would enjoy the change in scenery too. I am loving all your outfit shots but the shorts and gypsy top look so summery and good on you! I might need to come round for a lil dog fix as I will be missing my peetee something awful I love your lil guys so much!!!

Oh my, I LOVE that jacket in the first outfit shot, it's gorgeous. I like your hair pinned up too. What a beautiful place to volunteer in. What is it about us dog owners and them invading our blogs hey? There's nothing quite like a picture of a smiling dog to brighten up a day though is there? Xx

Wendy said... Best Blogger Tips[Reply to comment]Best Blogger Templates

Love all of your outfits especially the first one with your Haori it looks so summery and cool!
I can totally relate to your journey to work and desk job related boredom, my average day is so similar, except I spend all day looking at pictures of buses, (thats when I'm not unblocking drains that is:)) its so dull, I am sure to the right person this would be thrilling but just not me!
Your work at Hughenden Manor sounds simply idilic I can completely understand why you wouldn't want to get back behind a desk, you never know a full time job there may be just around the corner! xx

Overcrowded transportation is the worst, I agree! Why do people simply refuse to shower and then proceed to go into small spaces where everyone else has to suffer with their stench. This is one of life's questions I will never understand.

The manor looks like such a beautiful and quite charming place to volunteer at. I think I may have a problem getting lost in all the history and antiques and have less time to volunteer and more time to daydream:)

You always find such perfect pieces - love that little gypsy top from Ebay and your pink skirt and that Haori jacket!

Just a note: You MUST go buy yourself some DJ Krush. I have purchased 5 of his cds and not one of them has a song on it that I would skip over. He's so very talented. Well, if you like this kind of music anyway. There's a link on my blog post that has several songs available to listen to on one of his cds. But they're all good in my opinion! Thanks for your comments!!

Oh I love your new Haori jackets so much (I really should find out the difference between Haori and kimono)!!!! Your hair up, your pink skirt, your track to the Faraway Tree and rabid-looking pup;)). Love it when dogs are all floppy and lazy:) I thought of you when I popped on my pink Japanese-coat-thingy the other day. So glad you're finally having summer! It's a lovely 3 degrees here tonight. xxxxxx
