It was a blonde.

It was a blonde. A blonde to make a bishop kick a hole in a stained-glass window.
Raymond Chandler

Ok, so I didn't turn out as blonde as I wanted and had promised you

I arrived home on Friday to find a parcel of joy from the gorgeous Curtise
It contained 3 dresses and two of which even fit me and a piece of Midwinter Lorna Doone!

Dress No.1

Well, I'm a bit blonder aren't I?!

 Dress No.2

Here's the gorgeous little bowl she sent me

and a postcard, I'll be using Arsetral cream for my chapped bits

On Saturday I got two more parcels, one from ebay....

I mentioned that I'd won this dress weeks ago and had been waiting for it to arrive from France for ages!

Also lovely Wendy from The Butterfly Balcony
sent me the same material from a beautiful dirndl skirt she'd made so I could have a go at making my own!

 Such amazing material!

On Saturday afternoon Lisa  (see her version on her blog) invited me to a "fashion exclusive" held by the local shopping centre, we were given goodie bags and bubbly, then given ring side seats to a fashion show. We were given style advice by the lady wot tells you what to wear on "This Morning"

It wasn't bad stuff, even though I was told I could find "something for all sizes and budgets" in House Of Fraser - I've only bought one pair of jeans there in 4 years of it opening due to everything being to small or expensive.

And also being shown a handbag and told it was a bargain (it was £16, I could hear Vix and Curtise laughing)

I was also surprised and a little embarrassed to discover that models now dance on the catwalk

"yah instead of going in to PR  I went travelling to Bali and I was like oh my god I want to make jewellery just like they do but for 10 times the price" - said Chloe from Chlobo  (2nd from right)

I like the presenter's hair and her bored expressions

It was quite a busy day, the dogs had a hair cut...

He's much smarter and cooler now!

 Hanging out the washing.
I went for a walked dress like this

I'm going camping on Friday for a week so I'll have to carefully plan what to pack and following

Finger's crossed the weather will be just a little bit nice like it has been all this week

I am so happy to see you again! This spread has a little bit of everything. That hot pink number is, ouch, sizzling. And I loved seeing, of all things, the clothesline! I haven't see one in a long time and I miss them, believe it or not. I love that smell of freshly laundered sheets hanging out to dry. And your dreamy meadow photos are, uh, dreamy! Great post.

Ooh I love ALL of your new frocks - especially the second Curtise frock and the hot pink French number. Little man looks GORGEOUS with his hair cut. I think your hair is very glam but I also think if you can get away with being a peroxide blonde, as you most definitely can, then you OUGHT, so as to make up for those of us who will never know how fabulous it feels. Emotional blackmail? OK!

Oh also I could not love that bowl more either - it's bloody gorgeous! Like you.

Gosh, Clare, there IS so much here. Love your hair and I think Sarah has a point about the peroxide. It would really suit you. Love your pics and the hot pink dress is stunning on you m'dear. xx

Those frocks Curtise sent you are just beautiful, you look like the Timotei or Flake girl from the old adverts.
That cerise gypsy dress is out of this world, you must accessorise it with lots of yellow and you'll be the most fabulously dressed woman at Vintage.
I love that Carry On picture of you hanging out the washing and the new doggie haircut.
£16 for a bag? Bloody hell! I love going to events like that and tutting like an old granny at all the prices! xxx

Love that cerise pink on you! And the dresses from Curtise are sweet - I like the blue one, it reminds me of Holly Hobby (do you have her over here? She was a doll that wore a pretty patchwork dress). Your commentary of the fashion event is hilarious. I used to produce fashion shows many moons ago in Canada, and I can't quite picture dancing models! :)

Lovely photo's, I love the bright pink dress. I haven't been out of black or navy lately, maybe eventually though. Thank you for the kind words on my blog, they are very much appreciated.

So many pretty dresses and snarky comments at a fashion show, girl you are a good time! The dresses Curtise sent are so girlie you look angelic in the first pictures. I think the hot pink gypsy dress is hot! You could also wear teal with it, just saying:). Your doggie melts my heart...definition of precious ...your dog.

pastcaring said... Best Blogger Tips[Reply to comment]Best Blogger Templates

I LOVE the dreamy Flake advert shot of you in the polka dot dress, you look so innocent, like butter wouldn't melt... So the camera DOES lie then, hahaha!
Glad 2 out of 3 are OK for you, the cerise frock is hot hot hot, and I like your blonder look. Though I'm another vote for the REALLY peroxide blonde, I really think you could carry it off and look amazing!
The fashion show sounds hilarious, dancing models and bored comperes and posh girls who, like totally turned jewellery designers, and expensive bags! Still, you got a glass of fizz, what was in your goodie bag?
Cool doggie and hurrah for hanging out the washing in your housecoat, so 1970s sitcom! xxxxxxxx

Yes it's blonder and you look great!
I love those dresses you got from Curtise. Especially the first one you look so pretty in it.
Now that pink dress you got is really fun. You need to wear it with some hair flowers and some chunky bracelets. Whilst drinking a bright colorful drink =D
I love your doggies haircuts <3

OHHHH I am jelous of your clothesline *SERIOUSLY* I don't have one right now we were thinking of getting one of those square shaped umbrella ones but have not yet. =/
I WANT TO HANG MY STUFF OUT! When I was a kid the house we lived in had a HUGE long clothesline and my brother and I used to hook up a milk crate on it with rope and then give out teddy bears trolley rides. *HAHAHAHA*

LUCEWOMAN said... Best Blogger Tips[Reply to comment]Best Blogger Templates

I was expecting Ash blonde, but this is very petty, doesn't drain you like a very heavily peroxide fuelled dye could.
Hooray for new dresses! I like them all, you really suit all colours, lucky thing.
That fashion show doesn't look much fun, unless you're making fun of the dancing models (they look like puppets!).
£16, a bargain - I'm shocked too. I bought 12 items for that last Friday, maybe it's time I did another post about my purchases.
Enjoy skipping through the forest in your fabulous new frocks, you look like you should be enjoying a picnic from a wicker basket in the first one!

Oooh lots to mention here - love Raymond Chandler and you are in indeed a bishop kicking blonde! I'd love to try blonde hair but whilst my sister can do it I don't reckon I could carry it off. Love your ethereal shots and the hot pink frock is AWESOME!

I came on here yesterday and was all set to tell you how lovely you look in all your FROCKS and then my (jerk) son badgered me off the computer. Love the artsy photos of you hanging out the wash, and that hot pink dress photo looked so summery and gorgeous. Ah, what's more fun than new clothes?!?

Marisa Noelle said... Best Blogger Tips[Reply to comment]Best Blogger Templates

Goodness, you have such a lovely collection of dresses! I love them all...and I love how dreamy some of these photos look - especially that one of you hanging wash. I definitely don't look that glamorous doing that..hehe. I'm usually in sweats or yoga pants..ha!

That fashion show sounds hilarious. I've seen some mall shows like this and I can't help but laugh. My mom used to stick me in these as a kid embarrassingly enough.

I just purchased similar material yesterday at this old fabric store. So pretty!
